        ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ( Need of First Aid)--- ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਰੋਗੀ ਜਾਂ ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪੀ ਵਰਦਾਨ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੈ । ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦਾ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਹੈ । ਸਾਡੇ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ' ਤੇ ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਾਪਰਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਘਰਾਂ , ਸਕੂਲਾਂ , ਦਫ਼ਤਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਡ ਦੇ ਮੈਦਾਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਆਮ ਦੇਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਈਕਲਾਂ , ਸਕੂਟਰਾਂ , ਕਾਰਾਂ , ਟਰੱਕਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਦੇ ਟਕਰਾਉਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਾਪਰ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਈ ਵਾਰੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਖ਼ਤਰਨਾਕ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਹਨ । ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹੋਏ ਕਈ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ' ਤੇ ਹੀ ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਕਈ ਵਾਰੀਂ ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ । ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦੁਰਘਟਨਾ ਤ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ' ਚੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੇਣੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ । ਅਜਿਹਾ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਭਵ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਵੇ । ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮਰੀਜ਼ ਜਾਂ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਦੀ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਖ਼ਰਾਬ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੋੜ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਮਸ਼ੀਨੀ ਯੁੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਹੈ । 

    ਉੱਤਰ - ਪੱਠਿਆਂ ( ਮਾਸਪੇਸ਼ੀਆਂ ) ਦਾ ਤਨਾਅ ਜਾਂ ਖਿਚਾਅ ( Strain or pull of Muscles- ਮਾਸਪੇਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਤਨਾਅ ਜਾਂ ਖਿਚਾਅ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਾਂ ਸੱਟ ਲੱਗਣ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਸਪੇਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਕ ਤੰਤੂ ( Connective tissues ) ਅਤੇ ਰਕਤ ਵਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਫੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਸਪੇਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਖੂਨ ਵਗਣਾ ਆਰੰਭ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਫੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ।
